Cold store · fruit storage

Cold store: how much does your compressor work for nothing?

Every gap, weak door seal and panel joint lets heat into the cooled space, and the compressor has to take it out again. A thermal camera shows where heat gets in, where ice forms, and what to repair to cut cooling cost and keep the temperature stable.
  • Surveyed in summer, at a large temperature difference

  • Quick diagnostic HUF 135,000 + VAT

01 / The situation

Where does cooling turn into loss?

  • 01

    Doors and loading vestibule

Weak door seals and a door left open let in heat and moisture, which ends up as ice.

  • 02

    Panel joints

Joints, corners and connections of the sandwich panels are the biggest leakage points of a cold store. Moisture in a panel further damages its insulation.

  • 03

    Plant room and evaporator

Compressor running time shows the sum of the losses. Uninsulated pipes, faulty defrost and a dirty condenser add to it separately.

02 / What we typically find

What we typically find

Typical items in this type of facility. Which of them exist in your building is what the survey shows: we do not promise defects.

  • Door seals, door frames

Worn seals, doors that do not close properly, warm-cold streaks around the door.

  • Panel joints, corners

Leaking or soaked panel joints where outside heat gets in.

  • Ice and frost

Ice forming under the door, at the floor or along panels marks the leak location.

  • Floor, underfloor heating

Condition of the anti-frost floor heating and of thresholds.

  • Evaporator, defrost

Observations on fans, defrost heaters and evaporator pipes.

  • Plant room, condenser, cabinets

Heating up of the compressor, condenser, pipework and electrical cabinets.

Our recommendation

What fits a cold store?

The Quick diagnostic with the cold-room module: doors and panel joints of the cooled rooms, the plant room and the loading vestibule. For larger, multi-chamber sites the 3D package or a tailored quote.

  • Cold-room module: HUF 45,000 + VAT per room, up to 300 m²
  • Electrical cabinet screening: HUF 12,000 per cabinet with a package

What we ask in return

  • Written consent to an anonymised case study (sector, size band, region; no name, logo or address). You approve the final text.
  • A 30-minute feedback interview, and a follow-up call after six months on which fixes were done.

Same scope and quality as a list-price order. The price does not depend on what you say in the feedback.

05 / How it works

Three steps from quote to fix list

  1. Step 1: Briefing and quote

We ask about size, heating or cooling system and energy price. You get a fixed written quote.

    1 working day

  2. Step 2: Night-time survey

We also survey cold stores in summer, when it is warm outside and cold inside. The temperature difference is then large and leaks show well. We do not stop operations.

    on site

  3. Step 3: Report and walkthrough

PDF report: for each item the location, likely cause, estimated loss with a range, fix suggestion and priority. Raw files and a walkthrough.

    10 working days

06 / Common questions

What people usually ask

When is the best time to survey a cold store?
In summer, on warm days, or before the loading season. That is when the outside–inside temperature difference is largest.
Do we have to interrupt storage?
No. Produce stays where it is. We enter the chambers briefly and use the doors in the usual way.
What does ice show on a thermal image?
Ice and frost mean humid air is getting in there. The image shows the source gap; we agree the exact repair on site.

07 / Honest limits

What we do not do

  • We do not assess refrigeration plant efficiency or the condition of stored produce.
  • We estimate the loss of the cooled space with an electricity price; accuracy depends on data from the refrigeration system.
  • Savings materialise only after the fixes are done; we do not guarantee them.
